Rich is the Owner and Chief engineer at The Sound Box in Cedar Rapids — a facility he personally designed and built to serve as a creative hub for artists, podcasters, and storytellers. With decades of hands-on experience, Rich is known for his sharp ear, technical versatility, and unshakable commitment to quality. From fine-tuning vocal chains to building artist-first workflows, his attention to detail and passion for audio engineering and production shape every aspect of the studio experience.
Co-Owner/Head Engineer
Jon Limmer
Jon is the Co-Owner and Head Engineer at The Sound Box. With decades of experience in audio production and engineering, he brings deep technical expertise and a refined ear for detail to every session. He is also the founder of LayZ Otter Productions, where he continues to develop artists and projects with precision and care. Known for his calm leadership, precision workflow, and creative problem-solving, Jon is a trusted force behind many of the studio’s best work.

Tone
Tone is currently training under Rich Shultz and Jon Limmer, sharpening his skills as an emerging audio engineer and producer. He’s also the founder of the Iowa Music Awards and Iowa Summer Jam, and the owner of T1 Entertainment — a platform dedicated to uplifting independent artists across the region. With a passion for community, creativity, and culture, Tone brings a unique perspective to The Sound Box, bridging the gap between artist development, event production, and high-quality studio work.
